Classical Beer Review: Alpha

Background

One of the oldest beers in Greece (or so, I’m told). Made from 100% Greek grains.

Commentary

Alpha. The first letter of the Greek alphabet. The first Classically-inspired beer review.

Pale yellow and straw-like color with a white head. An adjunct-fueled, mass-produced lager that is certainly not the ambrosia of the gods. I must admit, however, that this is my “go-to” Greek kafeneion beer. At 0.90 € for 500 ml, it offers a perfect balance of price and flavored-water taste. Alpha also pairs perfectly with a complimentary bowl of potato chips.
